Organic Food Benefits

"Who's Been Playing With Your Food?"

My mother didn't know about organic food benefits, organic nutrition or buying organic food, when I was growing up. But, she used to say, "Don't play with your food." Good advice for a kid. And that probably states best the advantages you get: Food not played with.

It seems today that there are food producers that never stopped playing with their food and now play with yours as well. Facts about healthy eating must include information about genetically altered food.

To be certified one must grow or produce the food in a way that is set out in the Organic Food Production Act. Then apply and pass the checks done.

When was the last time you had a tomato that tasted like a tomato? For me, it was for the benefit of taste. I had purchased these wax looking, square conventionally grown tomatoes the week before. They left me disappointed.

When I bought that first certified tomato and tasted it it was real. It was a tomato. Just like mom grew in her garden!

Start doing your own organic gardening.
Small spaces are no longer a barrier with the introduction of container gardening. You could even start by just growing your own organic herbs.

The difference is in more than just the taste. When produce and grains are grown they need minerals in a rich soil to be healthy plants. The land and the plant work together. Both need to be taken care of with love you could say.

The conventional foods are often grown in soil that has a decreased level of minerals. The low quality soil makes the plants grow weaker and at effect of bugs and disease. Instead of fixing the underlying problem. That of soil quality. All kinds of wacky solutions are entered into the mix.

These foods grown with love do not use harsh pesticides and growth hormones. Further, genetic alterations or new foods are taboo.

Since irradiation to preserve the food isn't used
, you'll find the produce is more often local.

With the labeling of popular foods
it is no wonder the trend is toward this wholesome food for all its benefits.

You too, can win from organic food benefits by taking a sensible approach to change. Small improvements all add up to your own set of benefits.
