Challenge Advice To Use Menopause Hormone Replacement Therapy
Should you use menopause hormone replacement therapy?
A new study has come out saying that the Women's Health Initiative Study was flawed. The claim is that the study used many older women which skewed the results.
Well, I am not even going to go there. No. What I am going to let you in on is the source of these HRT medications. These are drugs manufactured by pharmaceutical companies.
Drug companies are in the business of selling drugs and making a profit for their share holders. That is their legal responsibility-make a profit.
What both you and your doctor may not know is how these drugs are made. The popular Provera, a progestin, is made from the active ingredient in wild yams or soybeans.
Of course, a naturally occurring substance cannot be patented. So the naturally occurring substance is altered to make progestins. Progestins are synthetic man-made progesterone. And so, these drugs have been altered in some way so that they can be patented.
Even the tiniest of changes made at the molecular level, will effect the body. That is why drugs have side effects. Your cells know there is a difference in these hormones. The cell may be fooled into using it, and then have trouble getting rid of the drug.
Since the synthetic menopause hormone replacement therapy drugs are derived from natural sources, I'm thinking: Wouldn't you be better off using natural progesterone cream?
Another thing you may not know is that estrogen and even testosterone are made in the body starting with progesterone. That is why women have handled their hot flashes and vaginal dryness by using natural progesterone cream.
It may be true that some women may need a drug. But, without challenging the assumption that we all need it or that menopause is a disease to be treated with x drug we are being marketed to and deprive ourselves of the best health care we deserve.
