The Importance Of Eating Healthy
Whether you're feeding your child or yourself, the importance of eating healthy affects your day to day activities.
If you consider your body a machine for a moment. Just a moment though, you can see the importance of eating healthy. All the fuel this machine gets is from the food you eat. Just as a machine wouldn't run optimally with low grade fuel, neither does your body.
Take an athlete, for example. He trains hard for his event. He is also keenly aware that he must eat to support his activity.
You may not be an athlete, but you do require the nutrients from eating healthy just to carry on with your day to day responsibilities.
You may be reading this thinking you are fine with what you eat. And you are probably right. You are fine, for now.
You see the body is quite remarkable at keeping things in balance. Prioritizing the most important needs. The vital functions would receive any incoming nutrients first.
But this "making do" scenario can only go on so long. This is not optimal survival. It is just mere survival. And even so, things will begin to breakdown.
Not getting enough fiber from whole grains and fruits and vegetables will lead to constipation and intestinal diseases. If you aren't having at least two stools a day, you are constipated.
The longer the waste is in the bowels, the more toxins that can get reabsorbed instead of being excreted. This then can effect mental function and mood. Prolonged difficulty in evacuating the bowel increases the chances of colitis, diverticulitis and cancer. Even heart disease can be linked to poor intestinal health.
To maintain or even help to recover intestinal health, live active culture yogurt can't be beat. The active cultures act to repopulate the bowel with the healthy bacteria that are needed by the intestinal tract.
Then there is
processed food.
Does this fit into healthy eating? First off, no manufacturer can prepare a more nutritious meal than you can. The major reason for this is that you make the meal and then you serve it. There is no need for you to add preservatives, or to use hydrogenated oils. You don't need to have this meal still look and taste fresh some six weeks later. There is also a missing ingredient in processed food. And that is love. Maybe its sounds a tad corny, but it is the best way to describe the special something that goes into a homemade meal. It's there, by whatever name you choose to call it. I sense it when I eat at my mother's house and also at my in-laws. Even when my husband surprises me with supper made, this ingredient is there. The importance of eating healthy can be seen by looking at those around you. You can do a quick mental survey of people you know. Those who eat healthy-are healthy. Right? And those that have various ills, have a history of not eating healthy. It's like the old saying goes, "garbage in, garbage out". Your body will do what it can to keep functioning. But, it sure would make your survival easier when you act on the importance of eating healthy and take steps toward that end. Steps to healthy eating 1. Eliminate
soda pop
from your diet. 2. Eliminate or cut back significantly on processed food. 3. Avoid foods containing
hydrogenated oils.
4. Avoid
aspartame,
the man-made chemical sweetener. 5. Replace flour products with whole grain or whole wheat products. This includes pastas as well as breads. 6. Drink only juices made from whole fruit, not from concentrate or fruit drinks. Fruit drinks have a very small amount of juice. 7. Increase your intake of fresh fruits and vegetables. And make these organic whenever you can. 8. Add one to two cups of live active culture yogurt to your daily diet. Enjoying life long health through the importance of eating healthy. What a great way to ensure you will continue to be able to do the activities you enjoy.
