Healthy Food For Kids

To supply healthy food for kids, you would meet their carbohydrate, protein and essential fatty acid needs.

Probably the most important thing you can do is to eliminate processed foods
and all foods containing hydrogenated fats or oils. Or at least greatly reduce the amount that they get.

Then you build from there. High quality protein would be an easily digestible complete protein. Of which eggs rank the highest. Then...

- milk
- liver
- muscle meats
- wheat germ

The milk should not be heavily processed.
The animal products (milk included) should ideally be produced naturally or using organic methods to provide the most benefit.

Carbohydrates should also be of higher quality. Choosing foods that take longer for the carbs to be digested. Options include...

- root vegetables
- whole-grain breads and cereals
- fresh fruits and juices
- leafy green lettuce provides vitamins and minerals

Buy organic produce whenever you can. No harsh pesticides are used in their production. To find out how to start doing your own organic vegetable gardening Click Here!

Your child's need for essential fatty acids can be met with...

- salad dressing (containing no hydrogenated oil)- mayonnaise
- many nuts
- sunflower seeds
- avocados
- peanut butter (not hydrogenated)

Replace hydrogenated oils in salads with cold-pressed oils. Safflower is good. I have used Olive oil for over 20 years now.

Healthy foods for kids provide a balance of foods containing protein, carbohydrates, fat, vitamins and minerals. Keeping a selection of fresh fruits and vegetables ready is a good way to encourage healthy eating. Granola bars make a great snack. Just be sure to read the label. No hydrogenated fats, please.
