Healthy Eating On The Go For Busy People

Most busy people give up any idea of healthy eating on the go. Time is a big factor in this. Another obstacle can be finding the healthy food.

So, let's look at what a busy person can do to make sure they still eat healthy...

First would be to pack your own lunch. Then you can eat it anytime and don't need to run out and get a meal. Although this may be the best option, I know more people that won't do this than those willing to do it.

So, for healthy eating on the go, do this...

  • Stop in at a grocery store. Here you can find single serving salads or even a salad bar. Choose cottage cheese as your dressing or a light vinegar and oil dressing. You can also find a deli counter where they will make you a sandwich.
  • While at the grocery store, pick up an afternoon snack. I enjoy the energy bar as an afternoon snack. Choose an organic energy bar. The reason is that the ingredients are kept simple and basic. You don't need a sugar fix. The protein is going to give you energy and keep your mind alert for the rest of the work day.

Conventional energy bars have an ingredient list that barely fits on the wrapper. You need simple wholesome food.

  • If you pack a lunch, pack a snack too. Choose a piece of fruit and a source of protein. An apple and a piece of cheese is a good choice.
  • Keep healthy food available. It is the best way I have found to avoid the vending machine. So think ahead.

My husband gets up early for work. So he likes to pack a couple of hard boiled eggs for his morning coffee break. Lunch is still 3 hours away, but he has already gone 3 hours since breakfast. So a snack with protein is a good healthy choice.

I kept an energy bar and a small can of tuna in my top desk drawer, just in case I got hungry.

  • When you are on the road avoid fast food restaurants. The prices alone should send off some kind of an alarm bell. How can you buy high quality at such a cheap groceries price?

A 99 cent double stacked hamburger may be a deal today. But don't forget to factor in the long term health costs of such a diet. You have hydrogenated oils, new foods and msg-all ingredients you should avoid.

Take a sensible approach and you will quickly master healthy eating on the go. Need more info on what is "eating healthy"? Click on the graphic below to get my FREE Going Organic Report.
