Green Cleaning: More Powerful Than Chlorine

by Sharon
(Oregon, USA)

Using soaps made with citrus/grapefruit extracts is more powerful than chlorine based cleansers according to research.

Most commercial vegetable washes use chlorine to sterilize the food. But chlorine is toxic in large amounts so they can only use so much.

But according to studies with natural vegetable wash (FIT), grapefruit extracts can be used safely in larger proportions and end up killing 1000 times more bacteria while still being safe for humans.

I also rely on essential oils, especially cedarwood oil on a rag in the attic, refreshed annually. Zero damage from moths, ha!

Everything else suspicious gets nuked with hydrogen peroxide.

Citrus Makes A Safe Vegetable Wash
by: Doris

Chlorine based vegetable wash and the citrus based washes are both available in grocery stores. My store has them right in the vegetable aisle.

Sharon, thanks for pointing out that the citrus vegetable wash is far more effective than the chlorine based washes. Reading the label is the only way to know you are choosing the natural vegetable wash.
