About Me
This is where I tell you a bit about me. My name is Doris. I live in Kitchener, Ontario. I spent the early part of my life on a farm. Following high school, I went directly into Nursing School. Then, after graduation, I found myself drawn toward gerontology. I had a passion to be where I could do the most good. I delighted in being able to make a difference in their lives. When I had to work on Christmas day, I went to work with the attitude that "I was going to make this a special day for each of the residents". And I did. I left the profession of nursing at a time when full-time employment was not available. There are those that thought I had wasted my education. No. What I learned I have used most everyday since then. Then somewhere in there, I found time to marry a man who already had three children. So, just like that, I was a step mom. The children were 3, 6 and 10 years old. Things went pretty well. Probably because we involved the children. My husband even asked his eldest, if he thought it would be OK to ask me out. I considered this to be a remarkable thing for a father to do. This son was also the Best Man at our wedding. Getting the kids to eat healthy was learned on the home front. Now, all three have grown and are healthy. They even learned enough to make healthy choices for themselves. So back to the period of time when I got married. At this time I was suffering from fatigue, recurring Candida infections, PMS, night sweats, severe menstrual cramps, and weight gain. Physically, I was a mess. The doctor said my blood work was normal. Time went on and I had more complaints about me physically. "You are getting older," my doctor told me when I relayed my numerous physical complaints yet again. In that instant, I knew it was up to me to find the answer! This website represents that answer. Then I was reminded of this quote from Adelle Davis: "If our nation is to survive as a world leader, there is a big job which must be done by big people, the big people sometimes mistakenly called the little people, by uncommon men so wrongly called the common man. I know of several such big people, several of whom have changed the lives of almost everyone in their communities. Without any special training, any organization, any particular leadership, and with very little money, this problem of America's malnutrition could be solved if enough people wanted to solve it. Equally important are the discipline of the scientist, the humanitarianism of the clinician, and the enthusiasm of the amateur." Adelle Davis 1954What about me indicates you should listen to me? I understand what it feels like to just feel unwell. I have been so physically fatigued that I could hardly move my body. And when I did, it felt like I was dragging a dead weight around with me. From there, I have regained my health. I have discovered a powerful system to rapidly handle my low energy, sluggish body, balance hormones, lose weight and regain my fitness to run 3 more marathons. I was my own test case. I am a published writer and syndicated author on topics of healthy eating, organic food and healthy living.
